ABOUT LACE UP

Since 2022, Lace Up to End Diabetes has united thousands of people virtually, creating connections, promoting physical activity and raising over a million dollars to support people living with diabetes in Canada.

Participants join across the country to fundraise and Show Their Glow by getting decked out in glow-in-the-dark gear.

Lace Up is brought to your community by your community, where volunteer champions will be helping to improve the quality of life of the four million people in Canada living with diabetes.

Each community walk will create connections, promote physical activity and celebrate the efforts of the inspiring Blue Crews who have reached their fundraising goals. Hosted at dusk, each participant will walk 5 km before putting their town on the map and lighting the sky blue to raise awareness for diabetes.

Can’t join an event? Not a problem, join us virtually and receive the same benefits in our registration kit, share your story and help put your town on the map. Celebrate your fundraising efforts with the online Lace Up community on November 14, World Diabetes Day.

Every dollar raised is a step towards empowering individuals, fostering awareness, and supporting the work done by Diabetes Canada. So, gather your BLUE CREW and get ready to Lace Up.

Best of all, lacing up is easy.

  1. Register: Assemble your BLUE CREW and join other Lacers at one of our Community Events, or join virtually by sharing your story and participating with the online community.
  2. Raise Funds and Earn Rewards: The more you raise, the more you earn! Check out the cool glow in the dark rewards that will keep you motivated and have you showing up to the event in style.
  3. Show Your Glow: Lace Up Virtually or join a community event between September and December. On event day, we’ll all be moving 5km in our best glow in the dark gear and grabbing a blue flashlight to light the night sky blue.
  4. Celebrate with Your Community: Connect with others who are impacted by diabetes and enjoy some fun activities and entertainment!
