FAQ

Decide whether you want to join one of our signature in-person events, our Community Champion events, or virtually, and then whether you’ll participate on your own, as the captain of a team, or as the member of an already existing team. Once you have registered, it is time to start fundraising.

On your desktop, tablet, or smart phone:

  • Click Register on the homepage
  • Choose the event type you want to register for.
  • Choose from Start a team, Join a team, or On your own
  • Complete the registration form to access your personal fundraising page and/or team fundraising page.

If you are participating with family, it is up to you to decide how you wish to join. Our website is designed to enable you to have a fundraising page for each family member to fundraise from their own networks and then join them together as a team. However, some families opt to fundraise together and promote one family page. For support on making the best choice for your family, contact us at laceup@diabetes.ca.

If you are participating with colleagues, we recommend the Start a Team option when you join, so that everyone involved can manage their own personal fundraising page.

Once you register, you will receive a welcome email to help you start your movement and your fundraising. As you fundraise, you will receive updates about the upcoming event, along with badges as you achieve new milestones.

Once you know the team name or the team captain’s name, it’s simple to find them:

  • Click Join on the homepage
  • Select the Join a Team option
  • Seach the Team Name or Team Captain's Name
  • Click the Join button next to the correct search result
  • Complete the registration form to access your personal fundraising page.

There is a small fee to join, and in exchange you get to choose your first incentive. All participants are encouraged to raise funds online. We cheer on your fundraising success through a variety of badges at different fundraising tiers ($75, $150, $250, $500, $1,000, $2,500, and $12,500).

There is no fundraising minimum required to participate. We cheer on your success through badges and emails at different milestones throughout your experience.

Once you have completed your online registration from your phone, tablet, or computer, you’ll be logged in to your participant centre, your hub for online fundraising.

Set up your personal and/or team page, copy your page link, update your goal and more here. You’ll also see which badges you’ve earned so far, and what you can do to earn the rest.

There are a couple of different ways. Most of the time you will receive an email with a link to the sender’s fundraising page. When you click on that link, you 'll be redirected to their page where you’ll see a Donate button; click ‘and complete the form.

You may also see a post on social media—the process is the same.

If you do not have a link, visit our website and click Donate in the top navigation. From there you can search for the person or team you wish to donate to.

All online donors who donate $15 or more will receive an electronic copy of their official tax receipt at the email address they supplied when completing their donation. Sometimes receipts end up in junk or spam folders, so be sure to check those, too. If you have trouble finding your tax receipt, please contact laceup@diabetes.ca.
