Every 3 minutes a Canadian is diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes.
Diabetes is not slowing down and more work needs to be done. One in 3 people across Canada are affected by diabetes or prediabetes, and some will experience serious and even life-threatening complications.
That’s why we started Lace Up to End Diabetes. Every dollar raised helps fund education, support services, advocacy and diabetes research that could lead to the next big medical breakthrough.
Every Lacer has a story to tell
Across Canada, there are 11.7 million people living with diabetes or prediabetes. It is important to remember that behind every statistic are human stories about life, love, and inspiration. What’s yours?
Whether you are lacing up to keep moving, raise awareness or bond with loved ones, your unique experience is part of our fight to end diabetes. Share your story using #LaceUpYourWay and tag @DiabetesCanada to inspire others.
Join our incredible Facebook Group and meet your fellow Lacers. Ask your questions, read their stories, and connect with others in the diabetes community.
Last year Briden laced up for his daughter, Remi, after she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He challenged his supporters to raise $100 for every 1km he walked, raising $2,505 as a VIP Lacer.
After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and experiencing serious complications, Lorien joined Lace Up last September. She has since reversed her sugars and raised $3,285 as a VIP Lacer.
Ross was the top fundraiser across Canada last year! He was diagnosed at age 6 with type 1 diabetes, and doesn’t remember life without it. He laced up with his dad and challenged supporters to raise $100 for every 100km travelled. He ended up raising $14,910 as a VIP Lacer!
