"I was two years old at the time of my diagnosis. Prior to being rushed to the ER at the ACH, I was constantly sick with the cold/flu like symptoms and threw up a handful of times. I was very thirsty, drank five cups of water at dinner and peed right through my pull ups nightly. My mom was doing laundry every day because of the amount of laundry I had made. My parents were very worried because this was a big setback in my life. My brother was born six months after my diagnosis. It was a very difficult time for my family. I don't remember much except for throwing up constantly (which was not fun!!!)"
Despite this setback, Audrey continued to forge ahead and has served as an advocate for people living with Type 1 Diabetes. She has even given a presentation at her school!
