Lilah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 1. One of the hardest parts for her is waking up to eat in the middle of the night when her blood sugar is low. She wishes more people knew that eating too much sugar doesn't cause type 1 diabetes.
Lilah advises others that you will get used to managing diabetes, but there will be "highs" and "lows." As her D-Camp friends like to say, "Type 1 Diabetes is the new fashion trend!"Lilah has been going to Camp Huronda in Ontario for three years and will be going back again this summer. She loves that everyone at camp knows what Type 1 Diabetes is and how to manage it.
Lilah wants to go into art and design while singing on the side. She dreams of traveling all over the world when she is older, and diabetes won't stop her. Participating in the Pump Couture Fashion Show gives her the opportunity to share her story and meet others with diabetes.
