Melissa was diagnosed with type 1diabetes at the age of four on November 11th, 2004. This diagnosis brought many changes, including frequent trips to SickKids hospital and managing her blood sugar at school. With the support of her incredible parents, Melissa learned to manage her diabetes and never felt limited by it.
Today, Melissa celebrates 20 years of living with diabetes. She credits the disease for teaching her confidence, independence, and resilience. With the help of technology, and support from her care team and loved ones, she confidently manages her condition.
Inspired by attending the Pump Couture Fashion Show, Melissa is now modeling to raise awareness and support for the diabetes community. She believes in the importance of a positive mindset and a strong support system.
