Ella was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 4 years old. She and her family live with diabetes together and are doing great! Ella loves to read, do gymnastics, play video games, color, and make crafts. One of the challenges she faces is dealing with low blood sugar waking her up in the middle of the night.
She wishes people knew how many decisions a day someone with type 1 diabetes has to make. Her diabetes devices help her control her blood glucose (BG) more effectively, but it can be frustrating when they fall off. Despite these challenges, Ella remains positive and encourages others by saying, "You're strong and smart. You can do this!"
Ella is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to raise money for Diabetes Canada and D-Camps. She and her family have attended family camp for two years and have made great friends and had memorable experiences.
Ella dreams of becoming a librarian. She recently returned from a vacation to Mexico, where she used her Apple Watch to manage her diabetes, which was great for swimming and beach days.
