Ellie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on February 9, 2023, a life-changing day. The first few days in the hospital were very stressful and scary. Initially shy, her diagnosis made her even more reserved, but attending D-Camp helped her come out of her shell and put herself out there more. Camp was one of the best experiences she has ever had, especially since learning of her diagnosis
Ellie loves playing volleyball and spending time with friends. One of her biggest challenges is being hard on herself and dealing with highs or lows in public. She has learned that blood sugar levels aren’t always perfect, and that’s okay.
Ellie wants to help fundraise to send more kids to camp. She attended Camp Maxwell, where she felt happy, included, and like she belonged. Everyone at camp understood the emotions and challenges of living with diabetes, making it a supportive environment.
Ellie is proud of how she manages her diabetes and aspires to become an endocrinologist. She dreams of traveling to California one day.
Ellie is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to raise awareness and funds for D-Camps. She hopes her story will inspire others and help send more kids to D-Camps.
Please show your support by helping Ellie reach her fundraising goal to send more kids to D-Camps!
