Murielle was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 39, initially misdiagnosed as type 2. She was always very sensitive to insulin, making it difficult to control her diabetes with medication and insulin. Adjusting to a new diet and lifestyle was a struggle. Murielle enjoys reading books, knitting, aqua fitness, taking fitness classes, and going for walks with her dog.
Living with diabetes is challenging due to the need for self-education, medication, blood glucose management, and dealing with hypoglycemia. She emphasizes that diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar and that there are different types of diabetes. Managing diabetes is a big job, as it is a chronic disease with no cure.
Murielle believes that you can live a long, happy, and healthy life with diabetes if you manage your blood sugar and take it one day at a time. Having the right support is key. She is modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show to raise awareness and educate others about diabetes. Interacting with other people with diabetes during the fashion show is a great way to support each other. She aims to change the stigma around diabetes and help fundraise for children with diabetes to go to camp.
Please show your support by helping Murielle reach her fundraising goal to send more kids to D-Camps!
