Daphne Sutherland was diagnosed with diabetes on December 21st, 2022. The diagnosis was a frightening experience, and she hoped it wasn't true. Daphne was particularly worried about spending Christmas in the hospital, but her parents were there to support her as they navigated this new reality together.
In her spare time, Daphne loves playing hockey. One of her wishes is for people to understand the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Managing her diabetes with diabetes devices has made life much easier compared to using needles.
She wants others to know that it gets easier with time and the right tools. Daphne is passionate about raising awareness, normalizing type 1 diabetes, and helping to fundraise for D-Camps.
Modeling in the Pump Couture Fashion Show is Daphne's way of showing that diabetes doesn't have to hold anyone back. She hopes to inspire others and highlight the importance of awareness and support for the diabetes community.
