Ella was diagnosed in January 2021 when she was four years old. Although Ella was too young to remember much of her diagnosis, like any four-year-old, she said it made it harder for her to eat certain things.
Being diagnosed with diabetes at such a young age, Ella doesn’t remember much of life without it. However, as she gets older. she sometimes feels left out. Instead of just “being a kid” like everyone else, she must manage her sugar intake, count her carbs, ensure her blood glucose levels are in range to safely eat or participate in activities.
Ella’s greatest accomplishment in managing her diabetes is being able to manage her own insulin injections. This gives her freedom to be in control of her own health, while also giving her a sense of independence.
Being a model in the Pump Couture Fashion Show will empower Ella to share her story of challenges and resilience, hopefully empowering other children like her to understand that they are not alone. She is also passionate about helping to raise money for Camp Huronda, as a D-Camper herself, she knows just how important it is to have friends that are just like you, where nothing has to be explained.
“I want to help raise money for Camp Huronda because my friends and I love attending every summer.”
Show your support by helping Ella reach her fundraising goal and support sending more kids to D-Camps!
Thank you for your support.
