Some of you may know that I've been working my way up to a marathon for the last year or so. Despite all races being cancelled, I have decided to continue training and will run the distance solo with some support beside me!
I've had a lot of fun learning about my limits and trying to figure out things like race nutrition. I was hungry on a run the other day and ate a little snack, but was reminded that not everyone can so mindlessly fuel their hunger without thinking about the numbers (or count carbs for FUN! rather than to keep them alive..).
I would like to fundraise for Diabetes Canada in the name of my younger cousin Conor - who was diagnosed with T1 diabetes at five years old. As an MD I've seen what can happen when you don't count manage insulin correctly - and despite the high's and lows (no pun intended) Conor is still one of the happiest and inspiring kids I know.
The money raised with this fundraiser will go towards education, diabetes summer camps for kids, research towards a cure and hopefully advancing technology such as insulin pumps.
Target marathon date: September 20th. In addition to motivating me on my marathon journey, your donation will make a meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by diabetes.
