Walking for Diabetes! Nova Scotia I started “The Great Walk About” on March 1st. I encourage you to “ Just get out and walk” if you can, exercise is one way to maintain healthy blood sugar levels!
While walking across Canada on “The Great Trail” , my goal for the journey is to raise $10,000 for Diabetes research and in the process also raise awareness regarding living with Diabetes.
My journey has taken me from Nova Scotia thru to Saskatchewan on back roads, National Parks, old rail beds and gravel trails. I blased my way through mountainous natural terrain with lots of rivers and streams, faced snowstorms, freezing rain, high winds, extreme heat and bugs, lots of bugs.
I feel blessed to have met so many fantastic people along the way who generously open their homes to give me a place to stay and a warm meal. I also encountered many well-wishers in the towns and cities I've walked through so far. I am very thankful for eveyone's support and for your donations via this fundraising page and GoFundMe site. You have my heartfelt appreciation!
I wanted to encourage you to continue to make donations through this page or directly to the Diabetes Canada fundraising page over the coming months. Again, thank you for your past support and please follow The Great Walk About Page to keep up with my journey as a head west on the second half of the Great Walk About.
Please share this post with others in your network to get the word out and encourage support of this cause.

YOU can make a difference in the lives of more than 11 million people living with diabetes or prediabetes. By making a donation to my event, you are supporting Diabetes Canada in its mission to help people with diabetes and those at risk of diabetes lead healthier lives while working to find a cure.
A cure is urgently needed now more than ever, as diabetes is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing health epidemics in the world, and every hour of every day more than 20 people are diagnosed with this devastating disease.
Your support is key in helping Diabetes Canada lead the fight against diabetes through delivery of diabetes education and services, advocacy and research. For more information, visit diabetes.ca.
