I am Lacing Up for diabetes again this year to raise money to go towards research to help find a cure and make the day to day lives easier for people diagnosed with diabetes. My inspiration is my grand niece who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 5. She is Turning 9 this year so my goal will be to walk 7.14 km a day starting September 1st to reach the 100km goal mark by her birthday. Money raised also helps send children to diabetes camp with other children who have diabetes. The parents stay home and all the needs of the children, insulin level checks, pump changes and all the other intricacies that go along with diabetes are looked after by professionals. My grand niece is taking part in one of these camps this year thanks to your support over the last few years.
Every 3 minutes, a person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is not slowing down AND neither will I.
Diabetes continues to grow in prevalence, impact quality of life, and cause complications for those living with diabetes and the people who care about them.
That’s why I’m Lacing Up to help bring us one step closer to a cure. Please help me make a lasting difference by donating to my page.
Every dollar raised helps fund education, support services, advocacy and diabetes research that could lead to the next big medical breakthrough.
Please show your support by helping me reach my fundraising goal. Check back often to see updates on my progress.
If you are able to support me in reaching my goal your generosity does not go unnoticed. If you do not receive a personal thank you from me within a day or two please let me know as there have been some glitches in the past of sponsors not getting to my page. It is easy enough to clear up if I have the particulars.
Thank you for cheering me on!
Maggie
