Every 3 minutes, a person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is not slowing down.
Diabetes continues to grow in prevalence, impact quality of life, and cause complications for those living with diabetes and the people who care about them.
On June 6, 2024 we got the phone call from the doctor and learned that our Kyla Bear was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She has come so far since that day, learning how to take care of her changing needs and completely adapting to a new lifestyle. She is a strong advocate for raising awareness about T1D and is determined to see a cure in her lifetime.
At the young age of 8, she has learned to count carbs, weigh and measure food, do finger pokes, prime her insulin pen and manage high and low blood sugar. She is an inspiration to all who know her. Diabetes also makes her vulnerable to other autoimmune diseases. She was recently diagnosed with Celiac on September 8, 2025.
We are Lacing Up to help bring us one step closer to a cure. Please help us make a lasting difference by donating to our page. We will participate in a 5k walk on November 14 to mark World Diabetes Day.
Every dollar raised helps fund education, support services, advocacy and diabetes research that could lead to the next big medical breakthrough.
Please show your support by helping us reach our fundraising goal. A little help goes a long way!
Thank you for cheering us on! You?re welcome and encouraged to join us!
