During my years as an outreach worker I came across many individuals who were living on the streets, in shelter systems or at their own accommodations and they were all diabetic. Sadly diabetic supplies weren't covered enough and still today are not covered enough. I have seen and heard so many people living in poverty passing away horrible situation called diabetes.
Did you know that every 3 minutes, a person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is not slowing down.
Diabetes continues to grow in prevalence, impact quality of life, and cause complications for those living with diabetes and the people who care about them. For example I had to witness my grandmother injecting herself in the same area on her body to receive her injections because she had nobody able to assist her to switch the areas, they argue that she kept on using was bruised, Raw and very tender and sore.
