2 years ago, my 2 year old daughter Bonnie was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Diabetes is a constant battle; there is no cure, we can only manage it. Every day we test, calculate, dose and deal. We deal with high blood sugar causing everything from mood swings to vomiting and low blood sugar causing shakiness and weakness. Because she is so young, she often times cannot tell us how she is feeling, just that she knows she isn't 'right'.
But Bonnie is not our only family member with diabetes. We have aunts, uncles and cousins who are all fighting this disease. In fact, every 3 minutes, a person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is not slowing down.
Diabetes continues to grow in prevalence, impact quality of life, and cause complications for those living with diabetes and the people who care about them.
That’s why I’m Lacing Up to help bring us one step closer to a cure. Please help me make a lasting difference by donating to my page.
Every dollar raised helps fund education, support services, advocacy and diabetes research that could lead to the next big medical breakthrough.
Please show your support by helping me reach my fundraising goal. Check back often to see updates on my progress.
Thank you for cheering me on!
