I have been a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Lab Facilitator for the University of Alberta, Faculty of Pharmacy, for over 10 years.
As well, I was the former Regional Chair of Diabetes Canada, member of Diabetes Canada Advocacy group, Board Member with the Special Olympics in Strathcona County, and a previous member of Obesity Canada.
I was fortunate to have received:

*Diabetes National Volunteer Award, Diabetes Canada
*100-Year Diabetes Canada Healthcare Professional honoree
It is projected that diabetes contributes $436 million in direct costs to the health system.
Most of us know someone who has been affected by diabetes, I have several family members that have been affected by this condition and I have seen the serious long term complications it has if diabetes is untreated.
