Lace Up 2022

25th Annual Matthew & Cameron Flynn and Friends Walk for Diabetes Research

October 8th, 2022 will mark the milestone 25th anniversary of the Matthew & Cameron Flynn and Friends Walk for Diabetes Research. We have experienced such an amazing response over the years and could not have reached this landmark event without this support from various communities.

It has been 25 years since Matt was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on the day after his 1st birthday in 1997, with Cameron's diagnosis coming 10 days before his second birthday in 2004. While life with diabetes is full of challenges and obstacles, and many ups and downs, Matt and Cameron live healthy lives thanks to support from family and friends and some incredible advancements in technology, which will hopefully be accessible to all those impacted by the disease in the near future.

The first Walk took place in 1998, where the Flynn and Hiscock families surpassed their goal of raising $300 for Diabetes Canada by instead raising $2,000. After a record year in 2021 which saw a total of $11,419 raised, the up-to-date total of funds raised by our event now sits at $171,559.00.

We would like to send a sincere thank you to all those who have contributed in some form along the way. The continuous support we receive is overwhelming and very much appreciated. Please consider donating this year as we close in on the $200,000 mark. Your contributions play an important role in crucial research and advocacy campaigns that make a real difference to the millions of Canadians living with diabetes.
