Hello family and friends. This September I will once again be lacing up to help find a cure for diabetes. As you may recall last year I had a super fun golf day in honour of my dad Ron Evans who passed away far too early from diabetes complications. I had several friends and family join me as I played for a cause dear to my heart. This year I’m doing something a bit different. I have teamed up with Kelly and Arlene from the Diabetes Canada office in Winnipeg. We will set our goals and encourage each other as we go.
It is my goal to walk 10000 steps every day in September. Not only does this goal help me raise funds, it will also help me on my own personal journey with type 2 diabetes.
I would love to have company on some of these steps so please let me know if you would like to join me for a walk (any distance) anytime in September. And of course please help by donating to this cause. Thank you very much.
Diabetes is not slowing down. Every 3 minutes, a person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes.
Over the last 100 years since the discovery of insulin, we have made great strides in helping people living with diabetes. But insulin is not a cure and diabetes is not slowing down. Diabetes continues to grow in prevalence, cause devastating complications or death, and impact the quality of life for those living with diabetes and the people who care about them.
That's why I'm Lacing Up to help bring us one step closer to a cure. Please help me make a lasting difference by donating to my page.
Every dollar raised helps fund education, support services, advocacy and diabetes research that could lead to the next big medical breakthrough.
Please show your support by helping me reach my fundraising goal. Check back often to see updates on my progress.
Thank you for cheering me on!
