We can't wait another 100 years to end diabetes.
You know that diabetes is a cause very close to my heart. It affects me and many people I love, and it is my honour to work every day to support the needs of those with diabetes while we fight to end this epidemic.
Diabetes or prediabetes affects 1 in 3 people across Canada, and 1 in 2 young adults will develop type 2 diabetes in their lifetime. The time to act is now. We can't wait another 100 years to end diabetes.
That's why I’m participating in Lace Up to End Diabetes: a virtual 10k in my own way! I choose the activity and I set the pace, completing at least 10 kilometers of activity in the month of September. In fact - in honour of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin this year, I have set a goal of walking 100 kilometers in that month!
The funds and awareness I raise will support education, support services, advocacy and fund diabetes research that may just lead to the next big medical breakthrough.
Please show your support by helping me reach my fundraising goal, and consider lacing up yourself - it'll support your physical and mental well-being and a good cause!
Thank you for considering!
