Diabetes is not slowing down. Every 3 minutes, a person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes. And that was me - about 6 years ago now.
So this year, I'm not going to slow down either. In fact, I've set myself a rather lofty challenge for my 2022 Lace Up to End Diabetes. On Friday September 16 at 7pm, I will start a 24 hour free-throw marathon, sinking 100 free throws per hour for 24 hours. That means, my 7pm on Saturday September 17, I will have completed 2,400 free throws!!
Why 100 per hour? Because last year was the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin - a Canadian breakthrough that has literally saved millions of lives. And why 24 hours? To really challenge myself and raise lots of $s for this critical cause!!
I'm hoping you'll support me in reaching my fundraising goal of $6,000. My initial goal was $5K, but you are all so amazing that I have been able to increase it my $1K more!! Consider sponsoring me $10/hour, or per free throw, or just an overall donation. Every little bit helps.
And I will be tweeting and posting pics and videos throughout my 24 hour free throw marathon. So check back for those!
Thanks in advance for your generosity!
