Diabetes is not slowing down. Every 3 minutes, a person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes. That's why I'm Lacing Up to help bring us one step closer to a cure.
Over the past 3 years I’ve had the pleasure to get to the diabetes community across Canada. They are one of the most passionate, dedicated, and resilient communities I have encountered.
When thinking about what I wanted to do for my Lace Up challenge this year, I turned to the stories from the community, and the one that I have heard the most is that diabetes doesn’t take a day off, so neither will I.
Throughout the month of September, I will move 33 minutes (1000 minutes total) everyday to build awareness for the 1 in 3 people in Canada living with diabetes. My Grandpa Shaw was one of them, and Lace Up is a great way for me to honour him as well.
I hope you will cheer me on by donating to me, sharing my page with others, or learning something new about diabetes in Canada this month.
I’ll be sure to keep you posted throughout the month as I Lace Up my walking, hiking, cycling, kayaking and dancing shoes!
Thanks!
Sarah
