Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my personal page! As many of you know I have quite the history with Diabetes Canada, formerly the Canadian Diabetes Association. I joined the organization in 1996 as a Regional Development Coordinator in a single staffed Branch Office in the community of Steinbach, Manitoba. I worked from home for the first 8 months before moving into a shared office space. In the beginning, I worked very part-time 10-14 hours a week servicing the community of Steinbach. Within 2 years the position expanded to service the entire Eastman region and the time commitment grew to 30 hours a week. For the next 8 years my focus was providing programs and services and creating awareness through a variety of avenues throughout the Eastman region.
My first thought when I applied for the position was, this could be a pretty cool job...As I became entrenched with the mission and vision of the organization my knowledge base on diabetes expanded, and my desire and passion to find a cure transformed to a personal quest and a lifelong career. Throughout this journey at Diabetes Canada, I have been and remain grateful to the countless mentors, leaders and colleagues that have felt my passion, and saw my potential. Throughout my 22 year tenure with Diabetes Canada I was offered several opportunities within the organization which I openly embraced and accepted. As a result, these opportunities have led me to my present role as Regional Director, Manitoba /Nunavut Region which I have occupied for the past 9 or 10 years.
Aside from Talking the Talk for Diabetes Canada, I also WALK THE WALK....I am a long-standing volunteer that stretches beyond my role as Regional Director. I participate as a volunteer on several the regional fundraising committees for the organization. For the past 20 years I have canvassed in our annual Door to door campaign. I continue to roll up my sleeves and do what needs to be done in order to support my team. And yes, when I say Walk the Walk…I literally Walk the Walk… I have actively participated in the Lace Up for Diabetes Run for the past 5 years in the 5km walk.....This year I am asking that you consider supporting me as I participate once again with a fundraising target of $750...Please consider making a donation to the 2019 Lace Up for Diabetes. Thanks in advance for your support!
